The Dacia Sandero becomes the best-selling car in Europe

Since the beginning of the year, it is the waltz of the champions for the European automobile market. Golf is no longer the undisputed queen! It has had its first place stolen several times, first by the Toyota Yaris then the Peugeot 208. And here is another car that beat it, in July, and not the least! This is the Dacia Sandero.

This is a great first for the low-cost city car, which appeared in 2008 and whose new generation was launched at the end of 2020. Driven by an even more successful recipe, with in particular a more polished interior presentation and a more modern endowment, without giving up at very aggressive prices, the Sandero continues to attract new customers.

Enough to take her to the top of the ranking of best sellers on the Old Continent last month. According to figures released by Jato, it sold 20,446 copies in July. It even left the other models behind: the Golf was delivered in 19,425 units. The podium is completed by the Toyota Yaris, sold in 18,858 units.

Another notable fact: in the top 10, there is no Peugeot 208… and especially not the Renault Clio! An absence that could worry within the Renault group. But it invites to qualify this classification, and all those of the year 2021. Sales remain very disturbed by the health context and by the shortage of semiconductors. The total market in July has also fallen by 24% compared to 2020 and 26% compared to 2019.

The Sandero is not the only one to reach a surprising level. If the T-Roc is the best-selling SUV in July, we find in sixth place overall the Hyundai Tucson, whose new generation is enjoying great success.
