A discreet end of career. For a few days, the Sharan no longer appears in Volkswagen’s French configurator. This second generation, launched in 2010, will not have a direct follow-up. The brand therefore has only one minivan in its range, the Touran, the Golf Sportsvan having also been withdrawn from sale at the start of the year. We know the culprits: SUVs of course! It was also the large minivans that were the first victims of the backpacker fashion.
PSA and Fiat had notably ended their models in 2014. The same year, Renault gave the Espace one last chance, however giving it the air of a crossover … and it has already been noted that the model will not be replaced, at least under this formula. In the genre of large “traditional” minivans, there are still the Ford S-Max and Galaxy.
Volkswagen’s family customers will have to turn to other products, for example the Tiguan Allspace, equipped with 7 seats as standard. Above all, the indirect replacement of the Sharan will be the all new Multivan, presented recently. As with other brands, the new large MPV is the “combispace”. Greatly modernized, the Multivan will be offered as a plug-in hybrid.
While waiting for the launch of the Multivan, there are certainly Sharans in stock on which the sellers will be generous.
