Vietnamese automaker Vinfast enters the European and American markets

The national car brand Vinfast from Vietnam traces its history back to 2017. The investment in this ambitious project came from the construction specialist Vingroup.

The Vietnamese company Vinfast is going to sell its machines in the European and North American markets. The carmaker has already started opening branded offices there. Vinfast already has representative offices in the USA and Canada, as well as in a number of European countries – France, Germany and the Netherlands.

For now, cars with the Vinfast logo can only be purchased in the homeland of the brand and in the markets of neighboring countries. In 2020, the automaker sold 30,000 vehicles in the home market. There are three cars in the brand’s model range so far: the compact hatchback Fadil, which is a licensed copy of the Opel Karl, the Lux A2.0 sedan (the donor for it caught the cold in BMW F10) and the all-wheel drive crossover Lux SA2.0 (based on another Bavarian model – BMW X5 F15) …

All three models get gasoline engines. In 2022, the Vietnamese company will release the electric SUVs VF e34 and VF e36. We got acquainted with their prototypes back in 2020. Vinfast plans to produce 15,000 to 56,000 electric cars next year. Everything will depend on a quick solution to the problem of a shortage of microprocessors.

Electric cars will be available in online showrooms. Vinfast, following Tesla’s example, decided not to create a dealer network. Serial electric cars will appear in March next year

Earlier AutoTimesNews said that Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator received heavy-duty Gorilla Glass windshields. The brand is not going to make this accessory a factory one yet.
