Tesla participates in the 2021 edition of the famous race taking place at Pikes Peak with a Model S Plaid specially prepared for the occasion.
This Sunday June 27 will take place the famous ” Pikes Peak International Hill Climb » where renowned pilots such as Michèle Mouton, Ari Vatanen, Sébastien Loeb or more recently Romain Dumas. Known to be very demanding, for organizations as well as for cars, she will see the return of Tesla after the 2020 edition. Unfortunately for the American brand, this first attempt ended in an impressive exit from the road.
A Model S Plaid over 1,000 hp
This year, Tesla hopes to do better and therefore put the small dishes in the big ones in order to look good. The Model 3 gives way to the Model S in Plaid version. Obviously, the production version is quite far from the copy that will attempt the ascent. His training last week made it clear.
The wide blade at the front and oversized fin are the main aerodynamic attributes of this Tesla Model S Plaid prepared by Unplugged Performance. With a power of 760 kW, or more than 1000 hp and all-wheel drive, its ascent should be very rapid. The weight, not specified, would be around 2 tonnes despite the empty cabin.
But the Tesla has an important advantage. As an electric car, she does not suffer from lack of power which affects thermal cars as they approach the summit.
Entered in the Exhibition category, things seem to be going pretty well. During the session last Tuesday, she set the best time on the upper part, and one of the best overall (see the whole ranking here).
