Urban explorers have entered an abandoned park where several thousand ruined Autolib ‘lie. A real open-air automobile cemetery.
During its inauguration in early 2011, Autolib ‘ aimed to offer thousands of electric vehicles in car-sharing in the streets of the Parisian agglomeration.

It was a fully self-service device and was available with a subscription system for its users. Autolib ‘worked quite well during its 7 years of existence but around 2018 the debts became far too important.
The service of the Bolloré group has therefore completely stopped in June 2018. Some of the BlueCars which were in good condition were then offered for sale while the others, the majority, were “put aside” …

Recently, urban explorers have thus discovered thousands of these vehicles lined up in a vacant lot, near Romorantin, in Loir-et-Cher (41).
The photos speak for themselves: all vehicles are in ruined, and are very likely unsaleable at present. By being abandoned in nature, cars degrade quickly and it becomes very difficult and expensive to do something with them …
Fortunately, the vehicles on site are devoid of their batteries, an element which is very polluting if left abandoned.
In 2018, Bolloré had however announced that the Autolib ‘ were going to be resold. But only a hundred Bluecar had been put up for sale, at the unit price of 3.700 euros. Individuals then rushed to buy an electric car at a preferential rate. Visibly insufficient …
